religion and politics just don’t mix.

So…the idea is for “kings” to take wealth from people, and give it to others…

…but the thing about socialism, is they take wealth from people WITH money and give it to people without. These guys seem to be trying to take money from those WITHOUT and give it to the guys with.

The only problem with this concept (besides the redistributive nature of it) is…people without money DON’T F’ING HAVE MONEY.

So hypocrites are using religion as an excuse to line their own pockets? I’m not a Christian myself, but I do believe Jesus was on the other side of this issue.

I actually agree with him. Ted Cruz is totally in favor of the transfer of the wealth…just not in the direction his father thinks he is.

Cruz’ upbringing by his father may explain why Cruz junior is so insufferably smug. He is the Anointed One.

Muad’Dib! Muad’Dib!

The person Cruz most wants to transfer great wealth to is Cruz.

Back in my younger days, I used to attend a mega-church in South Carolina where this message was also preached. The idea is that “spirit-filled” (charismatic, TBN, Pat Robertson, Benny Hinn style) Christians will “take over” all of the major industries (including entertainment) and the tithes they pay will enrich the churches to pay more people to spread the gospel… because in their specific pentecostal-style eschatology they believe that all “the nations” must hear about Christ in a persuasive pitch before Christ can return. And that’s going to require some heavy financial lifting.

I’ve heard some charismatics refer to this event as “the Harvest” before the Rapture.

I mentioned this here a few days back, but you cover it much better than I:
littlegreenfootballs.com

(I originally got the link from RationalWiki.)

Apparently this is a sect of Christianity called “Christian Dominionism,” which is based on this passage of their book of iron age fairy tales:

“And God blessed [ Adam and Eve ], and God said unto them, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”“

Which, if you’re looking to start up a good Ponzi scheme, means that their sky god totally just said that all Christians are kings destined to rule over the Earth, and non Christians and athiests are subhumans who don’t deserve any money, resources, or say in things.

Interestingly enough, there’s been a concentrated effort to subvert and deny the very existence of Christian Dominionism, particularly in the media. You can read more info on that at this very recent DailyKOS link:

dailykos.com

It’s quite frightening. Quite a few of these ultra-right Tea Party nutjobs are actually these Christian Dominionists — theocracists — who don’t believe in Democracy per say, since their God has totally given them permission to rule over the rest of us as kings. It’s a form of sociopathic behavior justified by, yet again, Christianity.

Yay for collective insanity.
